I prefer to tackle the high pain, high gain items first. Back in the old days, they called it the Negawatt, the watt you never use. Using shipping containers as both energy generation and thermal storage units (filled with cold water), we could tackle the thermal load - the lowest hanging fruit - with the simplest ingredients - solar and water, cheap and safe.
