About Jim

Jim grew up tinkering in his parents’ garage in Marblehead, MA. An avid sailer and skier, Jim developed a keen understanding of physics and a love of nature.

Jim attended Duke University, where he studied Environmental Science and Geology. At Duke, he received a Pew Research grant to design a wave-powered energy machine.

In 1999, Jim co-founded DoGood-Dates with his future wife, Becky, bringing thousands of people together to work on volunteer projects in San Francisco.

Jim received his MBA from Babson College, where he currently teaches entrepreneurship in the MBA, undergraduate and Executive Education programs.

Jim has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and as one of Business Week Magazine’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs. In 2011-2012, he proudly served the U.S. State Department as a clean technology lecturer to government, academics, civic leaders and students in Australia and Japan.

Today, Jim lives with his wife and sons in the Seattle area, still tinkering, sailing, skiing, hiking and dreaming up new ways to make the world a better place.
